Patience

Patience doesn’t come easy
When every castle shifts in the sand
Patience doesn’t come easy
I need solid answers, like stones in my hand

Patience isn’t that simple
Devils shout curses and pull on my sleeve
Patience isn’t that simple
My mind’s in a tangle of webs that they weave

There you are solid as a mountain
And there you are singing sweetly as the breeze
And there you are riding waves of tender mercy
Patiently

Patience fails to caress me
When these sharp talons pick at my heart
Patience fails to caress me
While this momentum tears love apart

Patience stares at me blankly
I try to walk lightly with lead in my shoes
Patience stares at me blankly
The days tumble onward, and I cannot choose

There you are solid as a mountain
And there you are singing sweetly as the breeze
And there you are riding waves of tender mercy
Patiently

I’ve been holding on for the dearest life
Oh to slice through this fear with the sharpest knife
Release me and leave me whole again (Release me! Release me!)

Patience doesn’t come easy
When every castle shifts in the sand
Patience doesn’t come easy
I need solid answers, like stones in my hand
